A Letter to our Patients re COVID-19

To our Patients,

As we are committed to the safety and well-being of all our patients and staff, we wanted to address the recently confirmed case of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Oakland and Wayne County.  We are strictly following the guidance and recommendations set out by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local authorities as we recognize the seriousness of the situation.

At this time, we remain open and operating per the recommendations and business guidelines provided by the CDC and Oakland County Health Division.  We have taken various preventive measures out of an abundance of caution to help prevent the spread of the virus.

We are asking patients to postpone appointments if:

  1.  You had a fever or symptoms of lower respiratory illness within the last 14 days (for example: cough, shortness of breath)

  2. If you have traveled to the following:  China, Iran, Italy, Japan, South Korea, New York, California, Washington, or a high risk area

  3. If you had close contact with a Coronavirus patient.

If you are having dental issues and unable to be seen due to these circumstances, our office will arrange a phone call with one of our dentists to assess your oral needs.

Because the safety and well-being of our patients and staff are our top priority, we have been recommending the following precautionary guidelines from the CDC to help keep everyone healthy and prevent the spread of the virus:

-Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer

-Keep your children away from others who are sick

-Please keep your children home if they are ill, or if you are not feeling well

-Teach children to cough and sneeze into their arm or elbow, not their hands

-Clean and disinfect household objects and surfaces in your home

-Avoid travel to destinations where the outbreak is prevalent or known

If you have symptoms or are feeling ill, it is recommended you contact your doctor.  You may need to be tested and told to stay home for up to 14 days to prevent the spread of the virus, even though you may not show immediate symptoms.

Because this is a fast-moving and ever-changing situation, we want to assure you that we will be diligent in monitoring updates and following official recommendations from the public health authorities.  Please stay tuned for further information from our team on this matter as the situation warrants.

Thank you for being a part of our dental family.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your cooperation!

-Drs. Egan, Best, Motyl, and Parsons
